Aesop University Place

60, University Place
This space references concrete, oak and industrial felt in its design, inspired by the work ofGerman artist Joseph Beuys. Aesop brings new life to a piece of American history; the store's sink was salvagedfrom Bethlehem Steel's 140-year-old plant in Pennsylvania. In a nod of respect to a companylargely responsible for laying the steel foundations of modern New York, this sink will serve as thepoint of introduction for customers experiencing Aesop for the first time. From University Place, you can discover the historically rich neighbourhood. Three blocksnorth in Union Square Park stands James Fountain, an enduring aide-mémoire of the importanceof kindness and virtue. And three blocks south sits Washington Square Park, where students fillwhat was once the stage for struggles in the seventeenth century and the 1960s.
